Malted waffle Recipe

Ok so I am always trying to replicate those yummy Belgian Waffles that you get at your favorite breakfast joint. This recipe is by far the closest I've ever come. It is so good and pretty simple. You need to buy the malted milk powder by the other powdered milk at the store and then you can make these yummy waffles at home! This recipe serves 2-3 people so if you have a crowd, I would double it.

For this malted waffle recipe we will need:
1 egg
1 cup flour
3 tablespoons malted milk powder
3/4 cup milk
4 tablespoons butter, melted and cooled
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt

This is one of the beat the egg whites waffle recipes so first thing we will do is this - separate the egg and beat the egg white in a small bowl until it's stiff.

Now take a bowl and mix in all the dry in ingredients - flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and malted milk powder. Take another bowl and mix in egg yolk, milk and melted butter. Add this to the dry ingredients bowl and again mix until the mixture just blends.

It's egg whites time. Fold in beaten egg white until just mixed. Stop, that enough :). Egg whites make the malted waffles softer. If you mix to much you loose the effect.

And you are done. Just bake the waffles according to the instructions on your waffle maker and your malted waffle recipe is finished.

Pretty good, close to Carbon's Golden Malted Waffle mix. next time I would try folding in the butter at the very end, it seized when mixed in with the milk and egg yolk. Adding at the very end might make a more crispy waffle. Great flavor!
